Sustainable Jersey for Schools Small Grants Program

The Sustainable Jersey for Schools Small Grants Program seeks to provide support to districts and schools for sustainability projects.  To date over $1 million in grants has been provided to districts and schools to make progress toward a sustainable future.

The Sustainable Jersey for Schools grants are intended to help districts and schools make progress toward a sustainable future in general, and specifically toward Sustainable Jersey for Schools certification. The projects serve as practical models for the rest of the state while making measurable contributions toward the long-term goal of a sustainable New Jersey.

Eligible projects include actions that would score a school points toward Sustainable Jersey for Schools certification. This includes projects addressing issues from renewable energy, green building design, waste reduction, school grounds, student learning, and healthy school environments. The Small Grants Program also gives capacity building awards to schools to support green teams and their programs, and are not project specific.
