The Newark Environmental Sustainability Institute (NESI) at Rutgers University-Newark and the PSEG Institute for Sustainability Studies at Montclair State University are pleased to announce an upcoming FREE 2-day workshop. Building Partnerships: Education & Community as a Path to Urban Sustainability. The workshop aims to connect university and community with the goal of building bridges between people and resources. Nationally acclaimed keynote speakers will share valuable insights into best strategies for building institutes, integration of education and research, and developing effective community partnerships in sustainability.
Day One of the workshop will be located at the Robeson Campus Center on the Rutgers-Newark campus and includes an environmental justice tour of the Newark Ironbound District.
Day Two will be held at the Meadowlands Environmental Research Institute and will include an eco-cruise through the Hackensack Meadowlands. Interactive breakout sessions led by invited experts will be held each day. These sessions will reflect the workshop themes of building institutes, developing community partnerships and integrating research and education.
