Online Application Portal Instructions
Applications must be submitted using the online application portal by 11:59 PM on Friday, May 14, 2021. At that time the portal will close. You may save your work, log out, and resume your in-progress application at any time by using the login feature. Even if you submit the application, you will still be able to access it up until the application deadline.
Sustainable Jersey has transitioned to a NEW grants management platform. To complete the online application, follow the steps below and/or view the detailed guidance in the Application Information Packet.
Step 1: Sign Up for an Account
The person signing up for the account will be considered the grant's primary contact. Sustainable Jersey will direct all communications about the grant to this person. This account can be used to submit up to two school grant applications (one $10,000 grant and/or one $2,000 grant) OR one school district grant application for $10,000.
Step 2: Create a Profile
The person creating the profile and serving as the primary contact must be a school district employee. It cannot be a consultant. If a consultant is responsible for completing the grant application, they should submit the application under an account owned by the primary grant contact.
Step 3: Complete the Grant Application
The grant application consists of three sections: School Grant Proposal, Sustainable Jersey for Schools Program Status, and Grant Authorization Document. Once each of these sections is "Marked Complete" the next section will become available. Once all three sections are completed and submitted the primary contact will receive a confirmation email of the application's submission.
Section 1: School Grant Proposal
Complete this form requesting information on your school district's/school's requested funding amount, grant project, application contacts, and Sustainable Jersey grant history.
Section 2: Sustainable Jersey Program Status
Complete this form requesting information on your school district's/school's current status in the Sustainable Jersey for Schools program. School districts/schools must be registered in the program and have an active Sustainable Jersey for Schools school or district green team to be eligible to apply. Green team documentation will be requested, except for schools currently certified Bronze or Silver in the program or from school districts with at least one certified school. Check your school district's/school's participation status here.
Section 3: Grant Authorization Document
After submitting the completed grant application, you will gain access to the Grant Authorization Document stage that has a longer deadline than the grant application. A grant authorization resolution or letter must be submitted no later than by the end of the day on Monday, June 21 in order for the grant application to be considered. A template letter can be found here and a template resolution can be found here. If submitting a resolution, it is recommended that the applicant begins the process of obtaining the resolution as soon as possible to ensure it is adopted by the deadline. Please note: the grant authorization resolution is not the same as the resolution required to register in Sustainable Jersey or the resolution required to establish a green team.
