With this contribution, the PSEG Foundation has provided $2.5 million in funding to support local sustainability initiatives in municipalities and schools across the state. “The PSEG Foundation is committed to helping build sustainable and thriving communities by empowering and investing in the people, environment and infrastructure of the communities we serve,” said Calvin Ledford, PSEG director of Corporate Social Responsibility and president of the PSEG Foundation. “Supporting Sustainable Jersey and local municipalities, schools and school districts as they build sustainability programs puts resources where they’re needed to positively impact the environment and local communities, having a lasting impact on neighborhoods throughout New Jersey.”

Since 2009, Sustainable Jersey has distributed over $6.3 million in funding through the Sustainable Jersey Grants Program. The grants program is an important program benefit for New Jersey municipalities and schools participating in Sustainable Jersey. Funding supports efforts to implement projects that help municipalities, schools and school districts gain points needed for Sustainable Jersey certification and make progress toward a sustainable future. The funded projects serve as practical and innovative models for the rest of the State and make measurable contributions toward the long-term goal of a sustainable New Jersey.
