Climate Resiliency: Hopeful Communications through Arts Education

Explore the ways that arts educators can support proactive approaches to climate awareness and climate resilience. Participants will learn to apply hopeful communications models and solution-based practices as they make direct connections to student learning standards in secondary education. Examples from visual and performing arts residencies and select Units of Study will demonstrate how arts education supports students in developing agency and social emotional competencies such as social awareness and responsible decision-making. This workshop will include a facilitated art-making experience to model the ways in which student artists consider personal, ethical, safety, and civic impact when making decisions as part of the creative process.
