Registration Overview
Participation in Sustainable Jersey for Schools is FREE and voluntary
Sustainable Jersey is a nonprofit organization and participation in the program is not mandated or regulated by the state of New Jersey.
For schools to become certified with Sustainable Jersey for Schools both the district and the school must first be registered with the program. Registering does not obligate a district or school to attain certification for the school.
School districts must register to participate in the Sustainable Jersey for Schools certification program BEFORE any school in the district can register. Once the district is registered, individual schools in the district can register.
Sign-In or Sign Up for a Website Account
The person responsible for registering the district or the school must be signed into the website. If they do not already have a personal account, they will need to sign up for one on our website.
District Registration Process
Pass a Resolution to Participate
The district must adopt a Resolution of Participation that states its intention to pursue Sustainable Jersey for Schools certification for its school(s) and designates a person to be the formal liaison to the Sustainable Jersey for Schools program.

Register a District Online
Once signed into the website, click the Register District button below then select the options to register your district. You will be asked for district contact information and to upload a copy of the signed resolution of participation.

Please allow up to one week to process your registration. Once approved, a confirmation email will be sent.
Once the district confirmation has been received, then any school in the district can register.
School Registration Process
Get a Signed Letter of Participation
Once the district is registered, any school in the district can register. The principal and superintendent both need to sign a letter of participation that states the school's intent to participate in the program and to appoint a school green team or join a district green team. The letter must also give the name and title of the person who will serve as the primary contact for the school's Sustainable jersey for Schools efforts.

There are numerous benefits to registration including:
- Eligibility to apply for funding to support sustainability initiatives through the Sustainable Jersey for Schools Grants Program
- Gaining statewide recognition by applying for certification
- Use of the Sustainable Jersey registered logo
